Introductions

South Shore native Jay Six has been crafting fresh, topical tracks since 2013. Writing from personal experiences and his perspective on the world, Six stitches together clean flow, memorable melodies, and clever rhymes into killer songs.

His first serious move in the scene was joining L.I. Nation, a local collective with whom he collaborated on two mixtapes, The Opening Statement and The Kings Dream. After the collective disbanded, Six went on to release his first solo mixtape Playing With Fire in 2016.

Six’s prolific writing is evident in the steady stream of releases he has put out. From light-hearted stoner hooks to the heavy soul searching that follows traumatic events, Jay Six makes rapping look deceptively easy.

Perhaps a key in the cohesiveness of these songs comes from the artist’s writing method. “Typically I listen to a beat on repeat and record whatever catchy hook comes to mind, then i will go back and write my verses and clean up the hook.” By moving from instrumentals to lyricism, the track feels tailored to fit together.

Six released his first studio album, On Impact, on July 3rd, 2020. On Impact is a deep reflection on a severe car accident and the aftermath of the collision. Jay’s high-quality content and flexibility in tone between On Impact and Pre Rolls (The Full Pack)—his 4/20/20 collaboration with Supreme Kay—showcase his phenomenal talent.

Shows & Tours

Jay Six’s collaborations have led to some major adventures. The promotion of his first mixtapes led to a friendship with Munich-based producer Chargeyouextra. The producer visited New York and the duo composed an EP titled Limits, which would be released in 2017. Six would return the visit by joining Chargeyouextra in Germany to record his first R&B release, the Open 24/7 EP.

Between international exchanges, Jay Six set off on his first DIY tour. “The South Shore Tour” took a live band from stage to stage with enthusiastic local support and concluded with an interview on the Sway In The Morning show. (You’ve heard of Sway right? With an average daily viewership of 250,000, that’s no small achievement.)

On Impact’s promo run features a series of music videos for “No Loss, “Pressure”, and “Kill”.
