Introductions

Laurie Anne Creus’ smiling face can be spotted at seemingly every late-night jam session in the Long Island music scene. Her velvet voice, endless charm, and musical fluency inspire the musicians who share the stage with her as much as they do the crowds she serenades.

Creus’ father decided music would be a staple in her life before she was even born by playing Mozart through headphones held to her mother’s pregnant belly. Communicating emotion through music became second nature to the budding artist, of course, and by age 13, she’d composed her first song while sitting on a friend’s porch: “It sounded like one of those Disney Movie monologue ballads.”

Laurie Anne is an incredible singer, keyboardist, and guitar player. She typically begins crafting her songs with melodies and chords before spending some serious quality time with lyrics: “I've found that some songs couldn't have been completed without living through certain experiences.” She approaches each song by painting the mood with instrumentals and finding the words along the way.

Her debut single, “Nothing Lasts Forever (Anicca)”, releases on June 25th, 2020 on all streaming services. In Buddhism, the Pali word “anicca” represents the doctrine of impermanence. It is the acceptance that all things in life are transitional, and that for peace of mind, you must let go and move with life.

Shows & Tours

Laurie Anne realized the impact of music on a crowded room when she was performing with her youth group in church. There she experienced music as a way to unite the congregation and set the tone for services. “Although I'm not a practicing Catholic anymore, I take a lot of what I learned then into my performances today.  It taught me that music has a power to open people up in a way that no other art could.”

Laurie Anne’s music hasn’t been muted by the COVID-19 restrictions. Adapting to quarantine spryly, she found a home in the rapidly expanding live-streaming community. She shifted from late-night open mics at bars to late-night Zoom open mics such as VBT Live’s weekly e-mic. Laurie Anne can also be found streaming on her social media platforms every week for her Tuesdays with Laurie live sessions.

Inspirations & Influences

For Laurie Anne, music is both an extension of who she is and a tool for improvement. “Music for me is where I can find my strongest self and find courage to be vulnerable, be sexy, be angry, be loud, or be intimate.”

Let your fear guide you. It’s in those moments that you’ll find your real strength. Get used to being uncomfortable to get what you want.
