INTRODUCTIONS:

The first time I saw Danni Christian play I was utterly blown away, and not much has changed since then. She was sporting a harmonica, guitar, and foot tambourine. She has an enormously powerful voice and writes punchy, heartfelt songs. Danni moved back to Long Island from Florida around two years ago to pursue her dreams. She had this incredible talent all bottled up, and even her closest friends hadn't heard her sing. She started as an actress with a theater major before picking up spoken word poetry and finally daring to sing out. She ought to never have doubted herself, because I've never seen anyone less than awed by Danni on stage.

Her favorite memory on stage was the first open mic she went to on Long Island. She showed up to the Vox Populi Open Mic hosted by Katie's in Smithtown to play her two originals "The Time" and "What About Me". Danni shakily climbed on stage and played from behind her big black sunglasses. Michael, who runs the open mic (which has since moved down to The Rail in Smithtown), gave her such positive feedback that she was about to go to another open mic the following night! Lucky for all of us that she did! Danni says "Thanks Mike"!

TOURS & SHOWS

Danni Christian has embarked on two tours so far. The first one was a trip all the way to Austin, Texas to play the South by Southwest festival with a band she put together. They rented a huge van and traveled all the way there, stopping in Nashville, Asheville, and Philadelphia. She had some unforgettable times and fell in love with Nashville. Her second tour was straight back to Nashville to play a show in the heart of the city. She shared the stage with her friend Johnny Nale, and as half of the duo known as Clover's Curfew was joined by her boyfriend Jameson Jenkins. Her video "Let You Down" was recorded in Down Island Studios in Patchogue, New York. She was accompanied by John Nale.

INSPIRATION & INFLUENCES

Danni Christian has really always been a writer. She has a gift for conveying feelings and messages through her voice and her writing. As Danni says she "lived a LOT of life" before she started this journey two years ago. Writing gives her a way to work through her darkness and bring light to it. Danni's story is relatable and honest.

One of her biggest inspirations is Bruce Spingsteen (she's a huge fan). She loves unusual instruments, often bringing a rain stick on stage with her. Anytime an artist incorporates something unexpected, like a kazoo for example, it gets her excited to hear more. Danni is known for her wonderful sense of humor and quirkiness.

At the moment her favorite song to play is one of her oldest ones, titled "Drowning". She's shared that every time she plays it she is filled with all of these different emotions and it really energizes the rest of her set.

You can often find Danni working the bar at The Velvet Lounge; she holds down the taps on the Equilibrium Booking's open mic on Tuesday nights. If you're lucky you may catch Danni on stage during her break!

“My biggest support system is my family. I am forever grateful for my father, mother and brother. They have consistently told me to chase after my dreams since I was a little kid..they are the people who make me believe in myself..my boyfriend James is also a musician and supports my music in every single way..we also started a punk/folk duo named “Clover’s Curfew” that is completely different from my music but kicks major bootay and challenges me in different ways..I also started playing music with John Nagle aka “Johnny Nale” who joined in with me and plays guitar/harmonies with my music..I feel very blessed to have met John and it’s been such a pleasure playing music with him and learning and growing.”
